Lilley Community Cinema Club is run entirely by volunteers. Every single screening requires a minimum of five people to help out on the night and whilst these roles are usually covered by the committee members, there are invariably evenings when an extra pair of hands is required.
All members are encouraged to give volunteering a try. None of our volunteer roles require previous experience and volunteers are only called on for support when we are short staffed. When we issue a call for volunteers, you only volunteer if the date and role of the volunteering opportunity suits you - it isn’t hard and it can be very rewarding indeed.
When we say volunteering is rewarding, we mean the reward of being part of a community, meeting and making friends with people from all walks of life. We’re also talking about the reward of giving something back.

Working behind the bar is extremely sociable and you get to chat to many of our members. So if you've ever fancied yourself as a Bet Lynch, Peggy Mitchell or Sam Malone, now's your chance

Before the doors open we need to set the chairs out and then at the end of the evening, put them all away again. This is really a 2 stage operation, (1) using a porters trolley to move stacks of chairs into place and (2) laying out rows of chairs from a stack or restacking the chairs.
This is always a 2-person operation and our volunteers

This is always a 2-person operation and our volunteers can take on either role, i.e. moving the stacks or laying out the chairs so you don't need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to help as long as you're comfortable with a bit of light lifting
